Nearly everybody hates Eli in his small town: he’s gay, his mother was Japanese, he’s an artist. And Eli is angry at them all, for all the injustices of the past, because his now ex-boyfriend in Austin betrayed him; he’s not in a good place. An old friend from school, Marnie, is nice to him, however. And then he meets the Texas Ranger Shepherd – Shep – Lockwood, who is also gay. Things might be looking up after all, but then very, very unpleasant things start happening, even murder!Is this getting old? Robin Covington has penned yet another fantastic book! SHADOW RANCH is a male/male romantic suspense, and it is absolutely brilliant! I knew it was a novella, and it was so good, I wanted more; I hope Ms. Covington will give us a bit more of Eli and Shep some time in the future. The story is extremely well crafted: I had no idea who the guilty party was or who it was. I liked both characters: they felt real, without being perfect, which I appreciate quite a bit. The author didn’t fall prey to any clichés whatsoever, for which I am ever so grateful. The romance felt entirely realistic, and the sex scenes are sizzling hot and feel genuine. In short: SHADOW RANCH is excellent, and the way things are going, I expect no less from Robin Covington!

I loved this story. It had a great storyline, and it was written. I enjoyed it.
It was a good book, needed a little more on the set up of the story but for a short story it was good.
Eli returned home after years away. He unexpectedly found love with the man who helped him when he was younger. Very quick read.
This a great quick read. Other reviewers have already mapped out the story...it ended in a HFN....I too would like to see more of the boys in another book. I will be reading more of this author. This was my first by Robin.
Well... This was hot and somewhat emotionally sad. Eli was a broken man brought back home to bury his mother. What he didn't sign up for was murder, being framed, or everything else in between. I guess a little mishap made a happy man or men... Great fast MM read.

A real economy of style with great depth of meaning. I really like the characters and their honesty. Would like to read more about them. New author to me, I will definitely be following her.

Shep and Eli are awesome. Great chemistry. Shep has seen a lot of bad and Eli has seen bad things happen to and around him. Eli comes home for his mom's funeral. He decides to stay to awhile. Some things happen and Shep is there.
